An Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a 10-digit alphanumeric code that is required forimporting or exporting goods and services in and out of India. IEC may be applied onbehalf of a firm which may be a Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, Limited Company,Trust, HUF, or Society. The firm must have a PAN, a bank account in the name of the firm, anda valid address before applying. The DGFT may physically verify the address on theissuance of the IEC.
